2020 | series i want to finish reading

I am very much guilty of being a perpetual series starter. And if I’m not starting a series, I’m reading a standalone or a non-fiction book, which means the series I’ve already started isn’t being finished.

Therefore I am making it my mission to actually finish things in 2020. These are the series I want to finish, and how many things I have to read in order to finish the series!

1. No.6 by Atsuko Asano

To finish this series, I have to read volumes 6-9. Easy enough!

2. Assassination Classroom by Yusei Matsui

I have to read volumes 7-21 in order to finish this series. DIFFICULT, but not impossible, unless you’re taking into account my bank balance after buying another 13 volumes.

3. Giant Days by John Allison

It breaks my heart to have this on the list, honestly. I adore Giant Days, and it finishing sees the end of my favourite ever comic series. In order to finish it, I need to read volumes 11, 12 and 13, individual issues 53 and 54, which aren’t available as a volume until presumably 2021, and the final big issue, As Time Goes By.

4. Wayfarers Series by Becky Chambers

Apparently there is going to be a fourth book in this series, but it has little to no information about it at the moment, so I’m focusing on finishing the two books that have been released! These are the sequel, A Closed and Common Orbit, which I already own, and Record of a Spaceborn Few, which I do not own.

5. Truly Devious Trilogy by Maureen Johnson

I really enjoyed listening to the audiobook for Truly Devious in 2019, so I figured this year would be best to listen to the next two. I’ve avoided all spoilers, but that trust will be lost in people once the third book is released at the end of January. The books I need to read are The Vanishing Stair and The Hand on the Wall.

6. Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

I’ve got the entirety of Stephen Fry’s audiobook narration of the Sherlock Holmes series on Audible, and I’ll be damned if I don’t finish it. I have to listen to: The Valley of Fear; The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes; The Return of Sherlock Holmes; His Last Bow; and The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes. I’m relieved there are more short story collections, I feel like where Doyle excelled was in his short story collections.

Are you planning on finishing any series this year? I really do need to stop starting so many series, but I’m just glad so many are manga series and a lot easier to get through.

Thank you for reading!

    1. I’m going on a mad one with Lord of the Rings, I read Fellowship in 3 days and I’m just going to read the whole trilogy by the end of the month just because! If I don’t finish Wayfarers I will be SO mad with myself.
