It’s Tuesday again, which means another Top Ten list! This week is ten characters you would follow on social media.
As someone who is constantly on social media, and is quite experienced in a lot of them, this prompt was so fun to picture. I can imagine the exact content some of these characters would make, too!
1. Tori Spring (Solitaire, Alice Oseman)
The best part about Tori is that, when I first read Solitaire, you could literally follow her on Tumblr. I adore her whole personality in the book, and she would definitely be someone I followed avidly on Twitter (or Letterboxd, for the films she watches!)
2. Nagisa Shiota (Assassination Classroom, Yusei Matsui)
His social media aesthetic would jump between positive, inspirational comments towards his classmates and posting about his favourite books straight to retweeting horror posts from Karma and videos of him listening to heavy metal music. It would be a ride.
3. Bakugou Katsuki (My Hero Academia, Kohei Horikoshi)
Bakugou would 100% be a gamer on YouTube with a channel that’s predominantly Twitch clips of him telling 10 year olds to fuck off and being sent free, expensive things and breaking them on camera to ‘test its durability’.
4. Sherlock Holmes (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle)
Sherlock Holmes would never subtweet. He @’s everyone, including his own friends; runs the most popular True Crime YouTube channel; and regularly gets into fights with members of parliament, just for fun.
5. Samwise Gamgee (Lord of the Rings, J.R.R. Tolkien)
Sam would run the most beautiful Instagram account full of pictures of his garden, going on trips to study architecture, aesthetically pleasing posts of him with his friends. He would only have an Instagram account, though, no other social media.
6. Persephone (Lore Olympus, Rachel Smythe)
There are moments in Lore Olympus where we see character’s social media accounts, and I would definitely follow Persephone on there. The pink-tone colour scheme for her character is incredible, and the way that translates over to her social media is just! Amazing!
7. Fleabag (Fleabag, Phoebe Waller-Bridge)
As someone who loves personal stories on social media- the worse, the better- I think Fleabag would have an amazing social media account, whenever she remembered to update it. The live tweets of family events would be worth it.
8. Susan Ptolemy & McGraw (Giant Days, John Allison)
I would follow social media of any of the characters in Giant Days, but McGraw and Susan just strike a chord in my heart. Their interactions on anything… woof! It would be hilarious. (Esther would definitely make Dark Academia aesthetics!)
9. Teen Dog (Teen Dog, Jake Lawrence)
If you’ve ever heard me talk about Teen Dog… this makes complete sense. It’s the best of the graphic novels, with the only existential humour that matters. Rick and Morty who? Teen Dog is the only space-traveller I need!
10. Eve Rosser (Morganville Vampires, Rachel Caine)
I would also follow Claire and Myrnin on social media, but Eve… she was the queen of my little emo heart when I was ten years old, and she’s also got one of the best senses of humour in the series. Truly a top tier character on social media. Her selfies would be incredible. If this series were written now, Eve would kick ass on Instagram.
And those are all my picks! Which characters would you follow on social media? Any similar to mine?
Thank you for reading❤
